New Managing Director at Castle Microwave

Newbury-based Castle Microwave has appointed Richard Eldridge as Managing Director, succeeding Bernard Gaskin who retired at the end of May.

Richard joins from Custom Interconnect, a leading RF specialist contract manufacturing company, where he held the position of Finance and Commercial Director. He has over 15 years’ experience of working in the electronics and manufacturing industries having previously worked at Panasonic and Sony.

His appointment is reflective of the on-going investment being made at the engineering and system solutions supplier.  Last year Wright Industries added the specialist radio frequency and microwave technologies firm to its growing portfolio of high technology engineering service businesses.  Chief Executive of Wright Industries, Craig Wright, who is also Executive Chairman of Castle Microwave, commented:

“Bernard has built a fantastic business over the past 14 years and has established Castle Microwave as one of the leading suppliers within the radio frequency and microwave technologies market.  Wright Industries’ investment last year has created an environment that allows Bernard to exit the day-to-day running of the business.

“Richard’s appointment comes at the start of the next phase of our investment programme for the business.  Earlier this year we launched Castle Cables, a manufacturing service specialising in the short turnaround supply of specialist RF and microwave coaxial cabling.  As we move throughout 2015 our focus will be on working with our technology partners to ensure we meet the needs of the evolving technology market.  Richard’s experience within this market will help drive operational excellence at a crucial stage in the company’s growth plans.”

According to Richard Eldridge, his experience at different stages in the supply chain will be of particular importance in helping the business achieve its growth plans.  He said:

“It’s an exciting time to be joining Castle Microwave.  They are well invested and have ambitious growth plans.   Over the coming months I will be working on their growth strategy ensuring the company is the first choice for customers looking for high-quality components, solutions and test and measurement equipment in the Radio Frequency, Microwave and RF cable market.”
